BELGRADE, July 24

Two more leading Jugoslav security chiefs have been dismissed and new men named to replace them, reports the official Jugoslav Communist newspaper “Borba”.

In a continuation of the purges begun earlier this month in the State Security service, the Parliament of Montenegro, one of Jugoslavia's six constituent republics, dismissed Mr Veselin Bulatovic, the Secretary for Internal Affairs. Mr Milutin Tanjevic, the Mayor of a Montenegrin town,

was named to fill the post. Mr Bozidar Bulatovic, a high official in the Montenegrin Socialist Alliance, a Communist-led organisation, took over the office of Deputy Minister, replacing the dismissed Mr Drago Mijovic. “Irresponsible Approach” A special commission of the Montenegrin Communist Party’s central committee last Thursday accused Mr Bulatovic and Mr Mijovic of an irresponsible approach towards the reorganisation of the State Security service. It also criticised them for misappropriating State funds for building houses on the Adriatic coast.

The purge of the Security Service began when VicePresident Aleksander Rankovic resigned in disgrace after the Jugoslav Communist Party’s > Central Committee accused him and his chief lieutenant, Mr Svetislav Stafanovic, of disobedience, Serbian nationalism, power-seeking and eavesdropping on leading 'Party and Government officials. ; Both men had run the Jugoslav Security Service between them since after the i Second World War.
