FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A stationary anti-cyclone covers New Zealand. Forecast:

Canterbury.—Light or moderate winds, northerlies predominating; patches of low cloud or fog night and morning, but mainly fine and cool with widespread frosts. Outlook: partly cloudy with morning fog patches.

Marlborough and Nelson.—Winds light to moderate and variable, but northerlies developing about Cook Strait and freshening late in the day; mainly fine with widespread frosts, but a few cloudy areas night and morning with patches of fog; rising day temperatures. Outlook: fine. Buller and Westland.—Light or moderate variable winds; scattered cloudy areas night and morning, otherwise fine with frosts; moderate afternoon temperatures. Outlook: becoming cloudy in Westland and later in Buller; occasional rain developing in Westland.
