BISHOPS IN SERVICE
Consecration In August Eight bishops will take part in the consecration of the Very Rev. A. W. Pyatt as Bishop of Christchurch in Christchurch Cathedral on August 24. The preacher for the service will be the Rev. H. I. Hopkins, chaplain to Paparua Prison. As the Bishop to be consecrated, Dean Pyatt was able to name whom he wished to preach. The Archbishop of New Zealand (the Most Rev. N. A. Lesser), who is in charge of the service arrangements, has announced that Dean Pyatt will be presented by the present ’ Bishop of Christchurch (the Rt. Rev. A. K. Warren) and the Bishop of Wellington (the Rt. Rev. H. W. Baines). The Epistle will be read by the Bishop of Nelson (the Rt. Rev. P. E. Sutton) and the Gospel will be read by the Bishop of Waikato (the Rt. Rev. J. T. Holland). The litany will be taken by the Archbishop’s Commissary, Archdeacon H. M. Cocks, and the confession will be lead by the Assistant Bishop of Auckland, the Rt. Rev. G. R. Monteith. The Bishop of Dunedin (the Rt. Rev. A. H. Johnston) will assist in the administration of Communion, while the Bible and card will be held by the Assistant Bishop of Wellington (the Rt. Rev. G. M. McKenzie). Attendance at the service will be by invitation.
