Board Told Of Measures
Measures to prevent a recurrence of the Incident at the Lions’ match with New Zealand Universities at Lancaster Park when boys ran on to the ground before the end of the game were outlined by Mr J. O. Hattersley at a meeting of the Victory Park board. Mr Hattersley said that there would be 14 club officials stationed in front of the children’s enclosure, and the police had also been notified. Primary-school headmasters had been asked to speak to their pupils about proper conduct at Lancaster Park. It was hoped that this would stop the booing and other misconduct that had recently occurred.
Speaking on the congestion at exits after big games at the park. Mr A. K. Johnson said that the St. Andrew’s College Pipe Band would be at the Lions’ match with Canterbury. The band would play for 20 minutes before the game, and again after the game. It was a good band, and many people would not be In such a hurry to leave while it was playing.
