RED CROSS ACTIVE

Residents of the Horre-ville-West Eyreton district generously supported the house-to-house appeal organised by the Red Cross, reported Mrs R. Aschen at a recent meeting of the subcentre.

A variety of goods, including eggs, preserves, cakes, vegetables and sewing were given for the Red Cross market in Christchurch. Members had collected used garments for needy people overseas and £29 in cash donations, said Mrs Aschen. During the year they had made clothes from remnants of material and had fully supported the sales table and other goods suitable for meals-on-wheels. At one particular meeting of the sub-centre members were asked to bring flowers for the elderly patients at Bvrwood.
