N.Z. DRAW IN WORLD BOWLS
(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN. A heavy programme -faces the New Zealand bowls team when it competes in the world championships in Sydney from October 10-23.
In the pairs, triples and fours the 16 competing countries have been divided into 'two sections of eight. Secition play in each event lasts four days and consists of : seven games for each country. The teams will then be graded in “order of merit” and the four top teams from Section A will play in rotation the four top teams from Section B to determine the final placings.
Teams will receive two points for a win and one for a draw, with the greatest number of shots scored separating teams which are tied.
The New Zealand draw for the pairs, triples and fours, released in Dunedin by Mr R. S. M. Sinclair, secretary of the New Zealand Bowling Association, is:—
Pairs.—October 10-13: Monday, v. Malawai; Tuesday, v. U.S. and Kenya: Wedensday, v. Ireland and Jersey: Thursday, v. Canada and England. Triples (October 10-13)' Monday, v. U.S.: Tuesday, v. Hong Kong and Scotland: Wednesday, v. Kenya and Malawai; Thurs-
day. v. Ireland and Rhodesia. Fours (October 18-21): Tuesday, v. Ireland and PapuaNew Guinea: Wednesday, v. Canada and Kenya; Thursday, v. Jersey and Wales: Friday, v. South Africa. The singles will be played on a round-robin basts from October 17-23. The competing countries are New Zealand, Hong Kong, Maiawal, Canada, Fiji. Wales, Australia. Kenya. Scotland, Ireland, Papua-New Guinea. Jersey. U.S., South Africa, England and Rhodesia. The New Zealand team is: P. C. Skoglund (singles). M. R. Buchan, Skogland (pairs); N. R. D. Lash, G. H. Jolly, W. P. O'Neill (triples); Lash. Buchan, Jolly, O'Neill (fours).
