IMPORT YEAR
No Overlap Period (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 20. The Government had decided not to introduce an “overlap” period of three months in the import licensing year, the Minister of Customs (Mr Shelton) said today. The Tariff and Development Board recently held a public inquiry into the question of introducing such a period and recommended that no action be taken. “The Government has approved the recommendation,” said Mr Shelton. "The nature of the evidence to the board led it to the opinion that there seemed to be little advantage, if any, in extending the licensing year,” said the Minister.
