Visitors To U.S. On a population basis, New Zealand provided more visitors to the United States last year than any other country. According to figures from the United States Travel Service, Washington, there were 10,812 New Zealand visitors, representing .4 per cent of the population. Australia and Britain were next with .3 per cent From West Germany came .2 per cent of her population, and from France and Italy .1 per cent British travellers totalled 174,863. This was the biggest group, the second biggest being the 84,041 West Germans. Japanese Sail Within two hours three Japanese cargo vessels sailed from Lyttelton yesterday. They are the Hokkai Maru, bound for Napier, the Japan Rimu and the Prima Maru, both for Dunedin. Another Japanese vessel, the Matsumoto Maru, is due tomorrow from Nauru with bulk phosphate for discharge.

Mr J. W. P. Watts, a Wellington barrister and solicitor, has been appointed chairman of the Special Town and Country Planning Appeal Board and deputy-chairman of the recently reconstituted Appeal Board. He succeeds Mr C H. Taylor, who has retired. -(PA.)
