FLOUNDER SALES
Weather Ends Over-Supply A recent nation-wide oversupply of flounders has come to an end. and because* of the present bad weather these fish are now in short supply. This year flounders have been plentiful all over New Zealand, and in many parts of the country have been selling cheaper than usual. One Christchurch fish shop reported it had sold about five tons of flounder in three weeks, prices being about 2s per lb compared with the usual 4s per lb. The managing director of P. Feron and Son, Ltd. (Mr M. L. Newman) confirmed yesterday that until the present shortage flounders had been in over-supply for several months. More flounders had been caught this year than for many years, and locally Lake Ellesmere in particular had produced more flounders than it had for a long time, Nelson fisherman have been taking record catches, and prices on the Wellington market have been the lowest for years. Recently flounder was selling in Wellington at 2s 9d per lb compared with the usual 4s.
