UNIVERSITY VACANCIES University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand LECTURESHIPS THE UNIVERSITY of WAIKATO began thia year teaching full-time co-ordinated courses of study in the Schools of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education. Because of the development of these courses, it now wishes to make five further appointments to Its staff, and invites applications in the subjects listed below. Appointments may be made at the grade of Senior Lecturer, Lecturer, or Junior Lectuter. ENGLISH: (A special Interest in the eighteenth century and in the history of the novel would be an I added qualification). 5 GEOGRAPHY: (In any aspect of human geography, but qualifications in cultural, settlement and economic geography are particularly sought). GERMAN i HISTORY: (With interests in medieval or modern history). I MATHEMATICS: (Preference will be given to candidates with qualifications In Pure Mathematics or Statistics). POLITICS The salary scale for Senior Lecturers is £2lOO-£2500; that for Lecturers is £l3OO-£2OOO-£2300; and that for Junior Lecturers is £lOOO-£l2OO. All appointments will be offered from February 1, 1967. The University of Waikato was established on January 1, 1964. It occupies a site of about 125 acres on the outskirts of Hamilton. The academic organisation is based on schools of study rather than on faculties and departments.
