UNIVERSITY GRANT
£9460 From U.S. (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 19. The United States Public Health Service has made a grant of £9460 to the microbiology department at Auckland University for research into nucleic acids, virus synthesis and viris inhibition. The department has previously received grants totalling £33,570 from the service over the last three years. “This is a joint award, to Associate Professor R. K. Relph and myself,” said the head of the department, Professor R. E. F. Matthews, last night. ' “It is for both equipment and supplies. The major item will probably be a liquid scintillation spectrometer, for radio-isotope work.”
