TO PLAY BRITAIN
Canterbury Team
N. G. Cornelius and W. F. McCormick have been appointed captain and vicecaptain, respectively, of the Canterbury team to play the British Isles at Lancaster Park on Saturday.
McCormick, who began his representative Rugby career in 1959 when the last Lions team was touring New Zealand, will be playing his hundredth match for Canterbury. Cornelius has been Canterbury captain so far this season. The team will be:— McCormick; W. M. Birtwistle, D. A. Arnold, A. G. ! Steel; W. D. Cottrell, B. A. W’att; L. J. Davis; I. H. Penrose: A. J. Wyllie, A. J. ! Banks, J. Francis, Cornelius; lA. J. Hopkinson, J. N. Creighton, K. Tanner. I Reserves.—P. Hatchwell, W. iFlewellyn: J. Baird, M. Mili lar. The Canterbury Rugby (Union last evening appointed Mr C. H. Rhodes manager of the team, and also of the side on its northern tour later in the season when it challenges Auckland for the Ranfurly Shield. Mr A. R. Taylor has been appointed as referee for the Lions v. Auckland match, according to information received from the New Zealand i Rugby Union.
