WAIMATE TROT

Easy Win For Super Dawn Super Dawn improved a bleak record by outclassing her rivals in the Winter Trot at Waimate yesterday. A. M. Purdon had Messrs F. E. Werner and A. F. Lance’s Supersonic mare handily placed all the way. She followed Boston Billy and Morissa around the home turn, came to the front near the furlong and drew out to win by three lengths. Morissa, which made a big run after a slow start to join Boston Billy in front three furlongs out, lasted for second by a length from Belle Luronne, which was three wide for a time but never far from the lead. Boston Billy, the favourite, was a weakening fourth. He wilted badly in the run home after trying to lead for the last six furlongs. Lord Cecil, which began smartly from the 36-yard mark and was co-leader five furlongs out, battled on for fifth ahead of Falincia, one of the slowest beginners. Bon Deed, Mytelene and Moonstorm all lost their chances at the start.
