AUST. PLANS FOR BIG NIGHT RALLY

(lt.l. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE. Some of the world's top car rally drivers, including New Zealanders, are expected to compete in an 18,000 dollar “nighttime” rally through South-eastern Australia in October.

The rally, which will be known as the International Southern Cross Rally, will take an expected field of 150 cars 2500 miles through rough

country between Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne.

The rally director, Mr R Selby-Wood, of the Australian Sporting Car Club, which is conducting the rally, said all driving would be at night The rally would be conducted on a similar formula to the Monte Carlo Rally with the accent on driving skill and capability otf the car. The rally will start at Sydney on October 5 and end in Sydney again on October 9.
