ROLLER SKATING TOURISTS CHOSEN
(N.Z. Press Association* PALMERSTON NORTH. Between now and January 20 representatives of the Amateur Roller Skating Association of New Zealand will leave on overseas tours, many to appear at world championship meetings. At its meeting in Palmerston North at the week-end, the A.R.SA.N.Z. announced that the following skaters would appear at the world championships of the Federation Internationale de Roller Skating at Essen (Germany) in October: Misses S. Litchwark (Cambridge), H. Martin (Palmerston North), L. Martin (Napier), C. Rumsey (Palmerston North), and A. Weidenbohm (Cambridge).
Three women to compete in the world speed skating championships at Barcelona, Spain, in September, are: Misses R. Alexander (Christchurch), M. McDonald (Masterton) and J. Williamson (Nelson). Three men speedsters will
Also skate at international events on the Continent. They are G. Brader (Masterton), G. Glover (Christchurch), and G. Hailes (Masterton). Also, plans are being formulated for a team of seven roller hockey playen to tour Australia next January. The itinerary will probably Include three tests with the Australian team.
The chosen players are: B. Eckersley (Palmerston North), R. Finnegan (Te Aroha), T. Jones (Napier). A. Newton (Napier), J. Ramsay (Hastings), P. Ramsay (Hastings), and A. Yarrall (Petone). The team manager for the European tour is Mr D. F. Jones (Palmerston North), and the hockey coach for the roller hockey tour is Mr F. H. Rogers (Hastings).
