CONSTABLE RESISTED
Man Fined £lO After being arrested on a charge of drunkenness, a man struck a constable across the head with his artificial arm. Sergeant V. F. Townshend told Messrs T. W. Smith and H. F. Butland, justices of the peace, in ‘the Magistrate’s Court on Saturday. Vernon McSweeny, aged 38, a cleaner, was fined £lO on a charge of resisting a constable in the execution of his duty and £2 on a charge of being drunk in a public place, having been convicted of a similar offence within the last six months. He pleaded guilty to both charges. Frank Edward Peterson, aged 57, a caretaker, was fined £2 on a charge of being drunk in Hereford street, having been convicted of a similar offence within the last six months. ...
