FOUNDATION FOR BLIND
Welfare Work Described “Not many sighted people fully realise the importance of the Foundation for the Blind to those who can no longer see, or whose sight is very limited," said the regional organiser of the foundation, Mr H. W. Burrows. In the area administered by the Christchurch branch there were about 800 such nersons who welcomed a visit from one of the two welfare officers.
“The welfare officers endeavour to create an atmosphere of friendship and convey that they are partners in the nroblems of blindness,” he said. Mr Burrows said that since the introduction of the annual Braille Week a much more satisfying service for the blind had been made possible through the generous response to the house-to-house collection. Braille Week will be held in the last week of July.
