Couple Die Within Day

(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, July 14. A Port Chalmers couple, Mr and Mrs J. F. Montgomery, died within 24 hours of each other in Dunedin Hospital this week. Mrs Doreen Elsie Montgomery, who entered the hospital on Tuesday, died on Wednesday morning, and her husband, John Francis Montgomery, died on-Thursday morning. He had been in hospital for five months. Mr Montgomery was 56; his wife was 55. They had lived in Port Chalmers since 1942. Mr Montgomery was formally the lighthouse-keeper at Taiaroa Head. They are survived by two sons and two daughters.
