State-Owned Ships (N.Z. Preu Association! WELLINGTON. July 15. A pamphlet urging th* es-’ tablishment of . a national shipping line for New’ Zealand was handed out to the public at th* Wellington railway station this morning by members of the Seamen’s Union. The union considers that; the £6 million being spent on a Whitby class frigate could j meet the cost of two refriger-; ated cargo vessels of 12.000 I tons. "This would be a start” the pamphlet says. "Many other countries have shown the way—lndia, Ghana,; Australia and Burma all have; State-owned shipping lines and! New Zealand could have one; too."
