AUST. WINS WILD TEST

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) BRISBANE. Australia squared the Rugby League test series at one all by beating Britain, 6-4, in a wild game at Lang Park, Brisbane, on Saturday.

The crowd of 45,000 spilled on to the arena, and during the rough first half one spectator tried to attack several English players.

An English forward, J. Mantle, grabbed a spectator and held him until three policemen led him away. The second, half opened sensationally with the

British centre, I. Brooke, being felled by a stiff arm tackle after gathering the ball after kick-off. After four minutes in the second half the English forward, W. Ramsey, was sent off by the referee for kicking. Earlier, Ramsey had been knocked out by the Australian forward, N. Kelly. The match was fierce throughout the first half and although Australia had said that it intended to “rough up” Britain, the tourists scored the first hit when an Australian, J. Wittenberg, was knocked out eight minutes after >the start and the British captain, B. Edgar, was cautioned..?' Ramsey and Kelly were cautioned for fighting and Mantle for having kneed Kelly. »> For Australia, K. Barnes kicked three goals. A. Keegan kicked two for Britain. Australia won 12 scrums to five and received 15 penalties to nine. After play ended the British hooker, P. Flanagan, and the Australian centre, J. Greaves, exchanged punches. T. Bishop was attacked by a spectator as he left the field. It was the first tryless test between Britain and Australia since 1933 in Manchester when J. Sullivan kicked two penalty goals in a four-nil victory for Britain. Yesterday «he tourists beat Western New South Wales, 38-11, after leading 20-9 at half-time.
