H. Magson Wins Final Qualifying Plough Event

TIMARU, July 16. I Winner of the qualifying ' event for the national ploughing final at the Timaru Ploughing Match Association’s Royal fixture, held in fine weather of Mr A. C. Houston’s property, Claremont road, on Saturday, was Mr H. A. Magson, of Rokeby, Mid-Canterbury. There were 11 entries. The match was the last of 22 qualifying events conducted throughout New Zealand to determine contestants for the Dominion final at Gore on July 30. Two leaders in the field at Gore will go on to plough in the world final to be held in the Prebbleton-Lincoln area in May of next year. Mr Magson, who has done best of any New Zealander in a global match, was second In France in 1961. He is member of the executive committee of the New Zealand Ploughing Association. ! The ground was dry, but there was some good ploughing. Results of the qualifying event, held in conjunction with the association’s forty-first ploughing matches, were as follows: H. A.
