REPRESENTATIVE GAMES Auckland Beaten In Scrappy Game

In a scrappy match which produced little constructive Rugby, Hawke’s Bay beat Auckland, 14-6, at Napier on Saturday. For Hawke’s Bay, W. L. Davis and T. W. Johnson scored tries, and I. R. Bishop kicked a conversion and two penalty goals. D. Laurie kicked two penalty goals for Auckland. The match was fairly even, with a large amount of kicking by both back-lines, particularly the Auckland fiveeighths. P. H. Murdoch and W. A. Davies. The best of the Hawke’s Bay backs was the former All Black, Davis, who scored a fine try after a good passing movement. Possession was even, with K. A. Nelson winning good ball in the Une-outs for Auckland and K. K. Crawford and D. Kirkpatrick, jumping well for Hawke’s Bay. Bayof Plenty outplayed MidCanterbury, 22-3, in atrocious conditions at Botorua this afternoon. The Bay scored six tries and wore down the opposition with hard, driving play. The backs used the ball amazingly well considering the rain and mud. The Bay ended up completely dominating the Une-outs and took three tight heads. For Bay of Plenty, tries were scored by O. G. Stephens (2>, R. J. Conway, E. Beattie, R. H. Walker, and R. G. Oswald. W. J. Potae kicked two conversions. A. H. A. Smith kicked a penalty goal for Mid-Canterbury. curtal’n-rateer to the first test at Carisbrook on Saturday. Tne customary fire of the North Otago forwarda in the loose and the tenacity of the defence was strangely subdued, especially when Otago scored 18 points in 20 minutes after halftime.
