COMPUTER BETTING

New System For Victoria (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE. The Victorian Totaiisator Agency Board plans to introduce computer ticket-selling to accelerate off-course betting. The plan, if successful, will make the Victorian T.A.B. the most highly mechanised in the world. The general manager, Mr K. Davis, announced the plan on his return from a 10-week overseas tour. Mr Davis completed the first step with the purchase of two computers from America at a cost of £209,000. The T.A.B. plans to have them in use next March, when it will have the four-min-ute closing time for win-and-place bets.
