Only one appointment will be made. Duties will consist of routine inpatient and outpatient hospital work and the teaching of medical students. There will be opportunities for research. If a Half-time Visiting Ophthalmic Surgeon Is appointed, the hours of duty will be 20 per week, and the appointee will have the right to engage in private practice. At present a vacancy exists tn Dunedin for a privately practising Ophthalmologist. The salary payable In accordance with the Hospital Employment (Medical Officers’) Regulations will depend on the appointee's qualifications and experience. (a) Full time Ophthalmic Surgeon—Salary scale £2295 £2710 per annum. (b) Half-time Visiting Ophthalmic Surgeon—Salary £lB6O or £1535 per annum. SALARY SCALE: The salary will be determined by the Hospital Laboratory Officers Salaries Grading Committee in accordance with the qualifications and experience of the appointee within one of the following scales: Scale (c) £1265-£1520. Scale (b) £1420-£1735. Scale (a) £1625-£1955. Applicants should hold the C.O.P. qualification or an equlva lent diploma. The successful applicant will take charge of the technical aspects of the Cytology Diagnostic Service, including responsibility for screening smears and the training and supervision of laboratory assistants.
