Fishing Authority To Survey N.Z.

A world authority on the fishing industry. Dr. W. F. Hampton, president of the College of Fisheries, Navigation, Marine Engineering and Electronics, of St John’s, Newfoundland, will visit New Zealand during October and November to report on major aspects of the New Zealand fishing industry. Dr. Hampton's visit is under a grant administered by the Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships Committee, supported by a contribution from the Fishing Industry Board. Dr. Hampton will investigate the best method of providing technical education for the fishing industry, and will report his findings to the University Grants Committee Some of his investigations will concern the processing and use of fish. He will report these findings to the board. Dr. Hampton probably will visit New Zealand's 10 major fishing ports which land 80 per cent of the country's wet

fish catch. They are Auckland, Tauranga, Gisborne, Napier, Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch, Timant, Dunedin and Invercargill .He will also visit the universities to inspect their marine research facilities.
