Ski-ing Team Unofficial
The team selected to go to Australia for the New South Wales and Australian ski-ing championships during August is not fully representative of New Zealand and. at the moment, ha r not received the backing of the New Zealand Ski Council. In the opinion of Mr P. Willis, a Canterbury representative on the council, to give support to a club team, even though it contains skiers (from other areas, would set * [“terrific precedent.” “The majority at a recent meeting of the council voted in favour of a subsidy of £lO but, as far as I know, this is not official,” be said. “Some of those selected do not justify a subsidy.” The next meeting of the council is in November. Tha team, which will represent the Mount Ruapehu Ski Racers Club, contains skiers from all parts of New Zealand.
