Million-Dollar Player
f.V Z T A.-Keut<r— Copyright) LONDON. The Brazllan star footballer, Pele, had rejected an offer of one million dollars (about £375,000) to sign for the Italian club. Intcrnazionale of Milan, according to the “Daily Express.” The offer was made in an official letter from Mr A. Moratti, president of the Italian club. In addition~~to the sum offered to Pele, Internazionale club would pay at least a further million dollars to Santos, the Brazilian club for whom Pele plays. Explaining why Pele had turned down the offer, a Brazilian official said: “Pele says he does not need the money and he does not like the winter. “He says he has all his friends in Brazil, he likes the sunshine, and if he went to Italy he would have to learn the language. So he is not interested.”
