SHEEPDOG SALE
High Prices Realised The annual sheepdog sale, conducted by Pyne, Gould, Guinness Ltd., at the Tinwald saleyards yesterday, realised some very good prices for heading and lambing dogs. The average price for the 94 dogs sold at the sale was 454gns. The over-all standard of the dogs sold was moderate.
Top prices of the sale went to Mr I. McAlister of Longbeach, and Mr V. Harris of Fairlie, each of whom sold a heading dog for 104gns. Two dogs and a heading bitch were sold for 103gns, and four dogs were sold at lOOgns. The best price for a bitch in the sale was 103gns paid for a heading and eye bitch offered by Mr G. M. Hope of Lakeside.
The top price in the huntaway section was 67gns, paid for a dog offered by Mr R. J. Hall of Hororata. The main following was in the heading and lamb section where 52 dogs were sold. There were very few passings in the sale, the highest price for a passing was a heading dog that was passed in at 115gns.
