Mncee* Talaria w® haw to pass an examtaation for soundness before being permitted to start on tb* third day at the Wellington Racing Club’s winter meeting at Ttentham next Saturday. Thia was decided by the dub’s judicial committee on the recommendation at the veterinary surgeon after he had examined the horse following her failure in the Members’ Handicap yesterday. Princess Talaria <W. D. Skelton) improved on the inside turning for home in the Members ’Handicap, but under a hard ride was not able to maintain her posrtttan and faded over the final stages. The horoo appeared to be favouring a foreleg on returning to the birdcage and Skelton said that she appeared to strike herself turning for home. A veterinary examination after the race disclosed that Princess Talaria had a minor cut on her off hind fetlock. The veterinary surgeon considered that the cut did not affect the horse. Owner trainer, Mr T. R . Nightingale, who supported his horse substantially, could offer no explanation for Princess Taiaria's failure, but he did state that she was racing in bandages for the first time. A veterinary surgeon carried out a further examination of the mare after the last race and reported that the horse had filling in her near fore fetlock and was lame. Hung In David Jeff hung in for most of the Member®’ Handicap at Trentham yesterday and this caused some crowding near the five furlongs.
