New Courses To Start Two additional courses will be started at the Christchurch Technical Institute this month, the Principal, Mr D. W. Lyall, told the monthly meeting of the board of governors. A new course in typing and shorthand for W.R.A.C. officers will be ’ introduced and a course in office machines work, last offered about seven years ago, will be reintroduced. K is hoped to start the latter course next week. The institute has also agreed to run national courses for joinery machinist apprentices on a permanent basis. Maori painting and decorating apprentices and trade certificate apprentices have been assisting with the preparation of the advanced machine tools laboratory, Mr Lyall said. The Department of Education has approved a grant of £292 for electric wiring for the laboratory.
