G. Foods Buys Chicken Farm

(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, July 13. General Foods Corporation (N.Z.) has purchased the shareholding of the Broomham Chicken Company, Ltd., New Plymouth, the largest producer of meat chicken in New Zealand This was announced today by Mr F. W. Orr, managing director of General Foods. The Broomham Company, which is processing more than 1m chickens a year at Bell Block, was formed only five years ago. Burns Philp.—Burns Philp and Company will maintain its annual dividend rate of 10 per cent with payments totalling 121 per cent for the 15 months ended June 30. The company recommends a final dividend of 74 per cent for the nine months to June 30; ex dividend July 27. —CPA.) Newton King.—Directors of Newton King, New Plymouthbased merchants and stock and station agents, have resolved to pay a final dividend on preference capital at the rate of £3 per cent on July 29 to shareholders registered at close of business on July 22.
