Falls Shade Advances In Steadier Trading

Falls just shaded advances in steadier trading on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday. Turn-over on the Christchurch Stock Exchange was down, but over the whole market the range of issues traded was quite wide. Among the gains New Zealand Refrigerating notes firmed 6d to 12s 9d, McKendrick 6d to 4s 3d, Alex Harvey 4d to 33s 4d, Hawkins Holdings 6d to 22s 6d, K.P. Drug 9d to 46s 6d, N.Z. Farmers’ Fertiliser rights 4d to Ils 4d, N.Z. Motor Bodies 9d to 31s, Reid Rubber 9d to 26s 6d and Rothman 3d to 25s 6d. National Insurance fell 3d to 22s 9d and New Zealand Insurance lost Id more in sales at 23s lOd. Kaiapoi-Petone slipped Id to 5s 3d and Cyclone 6d to 10s 6d. United Empire Box lost 3d to 10s 6d, after gaining ground the day before, and the 1967 notes also had a reverse with a Id fall to 10s 3d.
