The general secretary of the World Council of Churches has called for a far wider sense of mutual responsibility among nations to solve modern social and economic problems. Dr W. A. Visser ’t Hooft was addressing more than 400 delegates from every continent at the opening session in Geneva of the council’s conference on church and society. The peoples of the world, including Christians, were not ready at the present time to face the true solutions to the crucial issue of international economic justice, he said.
