School Evacuated
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, July 13. About 400 children were evacuated from the Alexandra Primary School at 10.15 this morning when fire broke out in a wing of the school. Children were shepherded by their teachers from both the threatened wing and the main block of the school. No-one was injured. The blaze was extinguished quickly by the Alexandra Volunteer Fire Brigade, which was on the scene within two minutes of the alarm. The fire started in the furnace room, where a wail caught alight. This room was badly damaged and the adjoining cloakroom was also affected. Water in a corridor
and one classroom caused minor inconvenience.
