METHODIST PRESIDENT
Trip To Attend Conferences The Rev. A. R. Witheford, of Ashburton, president of the Methodist Church of New Zealand, and Mrs Witheford have left for London where they will attend two world conferences of the church. They will also tour the Continent and visit the United States on the way home, meeting leaders of the church. They will be back in New Zealand late in September. Mrs Witheford will attend a conference of the World Federation of Methodist Women in London from August 12 to 16, and Mr Witheford will take part in the conference of the World Methodist Council to be held in London from August 18 to 26.
Mr and Mrs Witheford were guests at the triennial conference of the Methodist Church of Australia in Perth in May. Mr Witheford also conducted services at a number of churches in Australian cities and spoke to various church groups. Mrs Witheford addressed women’s and other church groups in Australia.
