DEMOLITION REVEALS INTERESTING RECORDS.—A lead casket was found under the foundation of the former New Zealand House building in the Strand, London, during its conversion to a bank premises. The contents were found to include a .bound copy of the 1914 official New Zealand Year Book, lists of the Executive Council of New Zealand and staff members of the house, a copy of the 1915 Budget, lists of New Zealand agents-general and high commissioners who had been stationed in London, a copy of “The Times,” London, for November 3, 1915, a First World War recruiting supplement, a reproduction of a page from “The Financier” bearing a photograph of the High Commissioner (Sir Thomas Mackenzie) with an article written by him, and a set of British coins. The photograph shows the casket and its contents.
