STEEL MILL PRODUCTS
U.S. Increases Defence Lot
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) WASHINGTON, July 12. The United States Commerce Department yesterday increased by about 30 per cent the amount of steel mill products which must be set aside for defence purposes during the last three months of this year. Higher demand created by the Vietnam war was cited by the department as it fixed the defence steel figure about 30 per cent higher than during the third quarter of this year. The fourth-quarter figure, the department said, would represent about 6 per cent of total industry shipments anticipated for the period, compared with 4.5 per cent during the third quarter.
