Guides Receive Gold Medals
Guides who received Duke of Edinburgh gold medals from the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr G. Manning) on Monday were commended for their perseverance and personal achievement.
‘lf young people can develop a purpose in life, we can be sure that they will have leaders to pass It on to the next generation. Organisations such as the guiding movement give young people a purpose and the Duke of Edinburgh awards have given an incentive to personal achievement and leadership," said Mr Manning.
Awards presented were:— Gold: Lesley Killengray and Anne Hancock. Bronze: AdeTe Cardwell.
Queen’s Guide awards: Julie Brooks, Katherine Cotter, Alison Butts, Judith Ann Evans and Christine Brown.
