Harrison Appeal
Contributions to the John Harrison Memorial Fund are now more than £13,517. The national appeal will close on Saturday. Yesterday “The Press” received £273 15s, making £5305 15s since the appeal opened on June 27.
One of the trustees received £43 Is in yesterday’s mail. This included an anonymous donation of lOgns. Other donations received yesterday included £27 6s 6d from the staff and pupils of Hillmorton High School, £2l 7s 9d from the pupils of the Waltham Primary School, £l4 10s from Westburn School staff and pupils, and £9 10s from Central New Brighton School pupils. A cheque for £2O was received from the Auckland University Students’ Association.
Among sums sent to “The Press” yesterday were £B5 10s from members of the Clan MacLeod Society of Canterbury; £3l 9s 5d from the Room 22 pupils at Peachgrove Normal Intermediate School, Hamilton; £3O from an anonymous donor; £25 from the Christ’s College Students’ Association: £l3 18s from Templeton Hospital staff; and £lO from Mr and Mrs B. B. Given and Mr D. Given.
Theft of Cameras. The theft of two cameras, valued at £lB and £3O, from two parked cars in Christchurch, was reported to the police yesterday.
