Parliament’s Diary
The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoeke) yesterday moved urgency for the first time this session on the discussion of the first group of estimates—Legislative, Prime Minister’s Office, Audit, and External Affairs. The Minister of Overseas Trade (Mr Marshall) gave * report on his visit to European Economic Community capitals. Mr S. A. Whitehead (Opp., Nelson) presented a petition to introduce the Nelson City Empowering Bill. The annual reports of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research and of the Potato Board were tabled. The following estimates (with the amounts actually spent last year in brackets), were approved: Legislative Department, £385,000 (£398,706), Audit Department, £335,000 (£312,238), Prime Minister’s Office, £26,000 (£23,902).
