Chinese Parade On Bombing

(N.Z.P.A. Reuter—Copyright) PEKING, July 12. Chinese newspapers today devoted big front-page headlines to mass demonstrations yesterday in five major Chinese cities against the bombing of Hanoi and Haiphong.

The largest of these was in the central Chinese industrial centre of Wuhan, where 100,000 people paraded. It was the largest rally on

Vietnam reported in China since Peking’s massive demonstrations marking the first American air raids in February, 1965. “At Any Time” In Canton, Mayor Tseng Sheng told demonstrators that the people of Kwangtung province were “ready at any time to go into action in support of the Vietnamese people’s struggle in accordance with their interests and demands.”

The “People’s Daily” reported demonstrations under a headline across its front page declaring “Chinese people armed with Mao Tsetung’s thoughts will give unreserved support to Vietnamese people’s anti-United States struggle despite any danger.” The “People’s Dally” also published an article repeating the Chinese Communists fre-quently-stated view that selfreliance was the key to success in any revolutionary people’s war including that being waged in South Vietnam and that outside aid was "only auxiliary.”
