WESTLAND LAUNDRY
More Business, Capital Lifted (From Out Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, July 12. After an increase of 25 per cent in business, the directors of the Westland Laundry Company have decided to raise its capital from £lO,OOO to £25,000 to cover the cost of installing new machinery and other equipment. One new washing machine alone will cost £7OOO. The increased business has come from hotels and accommodation houses, and is attributed to the extra tourist traffic since the opening of the Haast Pass road.
The Westland Laundry Company was established in 1940, with 48 West Coast shareholders. The number of shareholders remains the same, but only six of them are now residing on the West Coast.
