A loss of £5749 is shown in the accounts to be presented by the honorary treasurer (Mr C. E. Hoy, of Christchurch) to the annual meeting of the Trotting Conference in Auckland today.
Last year the conference accounts showed a loss of £835. As a result of the losses clubs can expect an increase in levies in the next 12 months.

Office salaries and audit fees amounted to £7422 (£7124). The increase would have been greater had not some wages been included in the stud book account, a new section in the accounts.

Travelling expenses did not increase as much as expected, totalling £3860 (£3668). General expenses showed a small drop, reaching £2958 (£3203). Swabbing expenses increased to £2918 (£2356). This pro. vided the conference with most of its income.
Fines imposed during the year amounted to £1449 (£1208), and interest on investments amounted to £1441 (£1117). Licence fees produced £llB6 (£1300), and the registration of horses £1154 (£1158).
