Stoppage For Week

Sixty Ellesmere drivers wanted to stop work for a week if there was a further break-down in conciliation proceedings for a new award, said the secretary of the Canterbury Drivers’ Union (Mr A. S. Roberts) yesterday.

The Ellesmere drivers recommended a stoppage of a week instead of two days as decided by other branches ofthe union in Canterbury. Mr Roberts said that the recommendation for the week’s stoppage was decided unanimously by the Ellesmere drivers at a stop-work meeting at Leeston.
