Improvement In Rate (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 11. P.T.Y. Industries, Putaruru timber miller and house builder, improved its earning rate on average ordinary funds from 8.4 to 10.4 per cent, while the rate on ordinary capital rose from 15.4 per cent to 20.9 per cent. As announced, profit rose £17,079, or 29.4 per cent, to £75,280 in the year to March 31.

This was after providing £6858 less for depreciation at £18,654 and £10,567 more for tax at £38,987. Dividend has been raised from 8 to 10 per cent and requires £6OOO more at £30,000. Preference charge is steady at £12,500. Total sales rose 20 per cent and of the increased total, only 5 per cent came from other sources, says the chairman, Mr A. L. Mason. This was the first full year to be based almost exclusively on the company’s own production.
