Narrow Moves And Few Changes On Market

Moves were narrow and changes few in an introspective start to the week’s trading yesterday. Key stocks were almost in balance and market interest was mainly in second-line stocks. Trading did not range very widely.

P.T.Y. rose 3d to 26s 3d on higher profit news and McKendrick Consolidated recovered 5d to 3s 6d and the new shares 4d to 3s 4d. Consolidated Brick at 16s Id and J. Wattie at 18s lOd each added Id. C.P.D. gained 3d to 16s 9d and the B shares 6d to 13s. Among the falls Bank of New Zealand Finance at Ils lOd, F.T.C. at 13s 2d and United Empire Box at 10s 7d each fell Id. Taranaki Breweries lost 3d to Ils, Lane Walker Rudkin 3d to 15s 3d and Alex Harvey 3d to 335. A further 3d was lost by N.Z. Forest Products in sales at 24s 3d and New Zealand Farmers’ Fertiliser rights were marked down 6d to Ils.
