Students’ Doctor

Dr. Janet Irwin, who has been appointed physician with the student health service of the University of Canterbury. A daughter of the late Dr. G. M. Smith, of Hokianga, Dr. Irwin graduated from the University of Otago in 1963. She was awarded the Winifred Gimblett Scholarship by the University Grants Committee in 1964 and went to Edinburgh to study child psychiatry. Dr. Irwin relinquished the scholarship to take up a full-time appointment in the Department of Psychological Medicine, Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh. She will take up her new position early next year.
