Treaty Of Rome
Sir, —The Common Market is much in the news again because Britain is anxious tc share in the trade and is wil - ing to take with her the older members of the Commonwealth under her wing. There is grave danger for all concerned if, in their anxiety to get markets, they take the Commonwealth or any part of it into the Treaty of Rome. There is a trap in it designed to make Great Britain subservient to a Common Market Council' which, under th„ treaty, has the power to over ride all the powers of the British Government. Our Queen ..till has the power tu veto any act of the British Parliament, but she would be powerless to veto any obligation imposed on Britain by the treaty council. The proposal amounts to treason against the Crown. You would do our naive politicians a service by publishing the terms of the treaty.—Yours, etc.,
W. B. BRAY. Leeston, July 11, 1966.
