APPEAL TO FIRMS
The Christchurch subcentre of the St. John Ambulance Association is making its annual appeal to the professional and business community. A circular letter has been sent out which gives details of the sub-centre’s services. “Ambulances drove 138.543 miles and carried 25.405 patients last year. Our fleet of eight is likely to be increased this year, and the major part of the capital of new ambulances must be found from our funds," the letter says. “Our first aid and other in-
struction is recognised as Important Its popularity is shown by the fact that we conduct more than 100 classes to instruct more than 1000 persons a year. Now that we have a full-time first aid instructor available during working hours for courses at business premises—a new service- -this work will substantially increase.
“The voluntary work of the brigade for the last 12 months shows 20,758 hours were spent iin public duties. 15.036 by attendants on ambulances. In the period 14121 patients were treated,” it says.
