Supreme Court SUIT OVER FARM

Further Legal Argument Further legal argument was heard in the Supreme Court yesterday in the suit in which a young married couple, Donal Roy Baker and Dianna Natalie Baker, sought the enforcement of a contract for their purchase of a 50-acre farm at Dunsandel for £ll,OOO. Argument was presented on aspects of specific performance of the contract, preparatory to Mr Justice Macarthur giving written decision refusing the Bakers a writ for such—his Honour having given oral notice of this when main submissions in the fourday case ended on July 1. Still further argument, however, will later be advanced on a claim and counter-claim for damages associated with the suit—a claim of £4OOO for the Bakers, and counter-claim of £1339 by David Alister McLaughlin, owner of the Dunsandel farm, who is the defendant in the action. Baker, a farmer and orchardist, and Mrs Baker, a nurse, are represented by Mr R. J. de Goldi. McLaughlin is represented by Mr J. G. Leggat, with him Mr A. Hearn. After counsel had presented their arguments yesterday, as stated, his Honour said he would take time to frame his written decision.
